SUSTAINABLE PINE GUM
High-Grade Rosin
Rosin is the sticky, gummy substance found in pine logs and stumps.
There are two basic types:
- Wood rosin extracted from the stumps of Radiata pine trees.
- Gum rosin extracted from pine logs
Rosin is a high-value, high-demand substance due to its use in a wide variety of industries and products.
Foresta produces the highest-grade rosin through steam distillation, which does not involve the chemicals and industrial solvents generally used in the industry.

Advantages of Steam-distilled Pine Rosin
- Foresta Rosin is low in abietic acid and will not crystalise like solvent-extracted rosins and resins.
- It can be cooked without losing colour grades
- Consistency of quality and supply
- High acid number (168-170)
- Good pale yellow colour.
- Good dropping point (73-74).
- Zero sulphur or other chemical additives make it superior for catalyst reactions up the value chain.
