Torrefaction process is the heating of an organic material with little or no oxygen present. The purpose is to remove moisture and volatile organic compounds from raw biomass, and converting it to a solid, blackened, hydrophobic (water-resistant) material.
Torrefaction is carried out under atmospheric pressure at a temperature range of 250-350 °C and is the ideal process for the production of Foresta’s (black wood pellets) as a clean and renewable solid energy biofuel.
